Santali Sohrai
Santali Sohrai is a traditional harvest festival celebrated by the Santali community in the eastern Indian states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar. It signifies the end of the agricultural season and the harvesting of new crops, coinciding with the conclusion of the monsoon. During this time, homes are adorned with intricate wall paintings depicting animals, plants, and nature-related motifs, symbolizing fertility and prosperity. The festival also includes communal feasts, music, dances, and the playing of traditional instruments like the banam, emphasizing the community's strong connection to nature and agrarian traditions.
